Next conceptC4E activities for publishing foundational assets and driving consumption

Explainer

A Center for Enablement (C4E) is a cross-functional team that productizes, publishes, and harvests reusable assets and best practices so that other teams can build and reuse them on their own. It drives a shift in the IT operating model. A traditional Center of Excellence (CoE) works differently: it keeps expertise centralized and does the API work itself.
Core information
  • A C4E is a cross-functional team, typically staffed with members from central IT, line-of-business (LoB) departments, and digital innovation teams. Its core job is to productize, publish, and harvest reusable assets and best practices.
More details and nuances
  • Both a CoE and a C4E run the API platform, so that duty alone does not tell them apart. The difference is that a C4E enables other teams to use the platform and reuse assets, while a CoE holds the expertise and knowledge centrally.
