The Mule correlation ID is a unique identifier automatically generated for each event to enable end-to-end traceability across flows and external systems. To maintain this traceability when calling downstream services, you can configure the HTTP Request connector to automatically forward the correlation ID in the outbound request headers. This ensures that logs and errors originating from external systems can be mapped back to the original Mule event.
