A redelivery policy acts as a safety filter at a flow source to prevent poison messages from consuming infinite resources by limiting how many times a failing message is processed. When a message consistently fails, the policy increments a counter and eventually raises a MULE:REDELIVERY_EXHAUSTED error, which routes the message to your error handling logic. This mechanism works alongside Mule’s transaction system to ensure that exhausted messages are either rolled back or committed according to your reliability design.
