Tableau Next Apps for Salesforce, also called Included Apps, are prebuilt analytics apps such as Sales Insights that bring dashboards and insights into the flow of work in Salesforce. Every Tableau Next user needs a license and a permission set, and included apps have their own licenses and permission sets. Users with these app-only permission sets can work with app assets but can't open Tableau Next Home or Studio.
Core information
  • Every user who works with Tableau Next needs both a license and a permission set. The license controls what a user could potentially access, much like a Tableau site license. The permission set controls what the user can actually do, much like a Tableau site role. Each license maps to one or more standard permission sets.
More details and nuances
  • Viewing an app dashboard takes two permission sets, not one. Every Sales Insights user needs both Tableau Next Limited Consumer and Data 360 User to view the dashboards, so a user who has only the Tableau Next permission set is not fully set up.
