Tableau Next has four components in Lightning App Builder that place dashboards, visualizations, metrics, and followed metrics on Lightning home and record pages. Users then see insights inside the Salesforce pages they already work in, without switching context. To set one up, you add the component, pick the asset, set filters and visibility, then save and activate the page.
Core information
  • Lightning App Builder has four Tableau Next components in its component palette: Tableau Next Dashboard, Tableau Next Visualization, Tableau Next Metric, and Tableau Next Following. You can place them on Lightning home pages and record pages.
More details and nuances
  • For example, on an account record page, a Record Value filter can match a City field to the account's Billing City, so each account page shows data for that account's city. A Static Value filter on City keeps the same value on every record page, so it can't adapt to the record being viewed.
