Explainer

Every Tableau Server project has exactly one owner, a user with full administrative access to that project, its content, and any nested projects inside it. By default, the owner is the user who created the project. The current owner or an administrator can hand ownership to someone else later.
Core information
  • A project can have many project leaders but exactly one owner. By default, a project is owned by the user who created it.
More details and nuances
  • Project ownership can still be changed when a project is locked. Locking the Asset permissions setting takes away content owners' ability to change permission rules on their content, but it does not block a change of project owner.
