ATTR() is an aggregate function that extracts a consistent value from a group of rows when every row shares the same data, and returns an asterisk (*) when the group contains multiple different values. Tableau uses this function to force dimensions to behave like measures, enabling them to participate in table calculations, data blending, and predictive models without distorting the underlying aggregation.
