A Gantt chart shows how long events or activities last. Each mark, usually a bar, stands for one duration, and the length of the bar shows how long it is. Tableau builds these views with the Gantt Bar mark type, often to show schedules or lags such as the days between an order and its shipment.
Core information
  • Use a Gantt chart to show the duration of events or activities. Each separate mark, usually a bar, shows one duration. For example, a Gantt chart can show average delivery time for a range of products.
More details and nuances
  • When you drop a measure such as OrderUntilShip on Size, its default aggregation is Sum. To show average days between order and ship, right-click (Control-click on Mac) SUM(OrderUntilShip) on the Marks card and select Measure (Sum) > Average.
