Current-state process mapping is drawing how work actually happens today: every step, decision, person, and system from start to finish, so the real process is visible instead of assumed. Business analysts do this very early in a project to understand what stakeholders are doing now, why it hurts, and what a solution must support. The finished map is a shared picture used to elicit requirements, spot improvements, and later compare against the process after the change.
