Existing customizations and technical debt are leftover Salesforce work, including code, click-built automations, fields, layouts, and permissions, that once solved a problem but now slow or block change. During customer discovery, a business analyst studies the customer's current org to find those constraints before recommending new processes or features. The same review shows what can be cleaned up, what must stay, and which problems are actually people and process issues that new technology will not fix.
