Process mapping creates visual representations of business processes so you can see what the business does, who is responsible, how standard work is completed, and how success is measured. Its main purpose is to show the relationship between the steps and the inputs of a business so the result is clear, consistent, and concise, and to compare a specific process objective to the organization's overall objectives, values, and capabilities. Companies most often use maps to take a formal approach to quality management, communicate how work happens, and find where the current process can be improved.
