Process mapping is a visual way to elicit how work really happens: what the business does, who is responsible, how the steps run, and how success is measured. You work with stakeholders to agree on a process's input and outcome, then walk the end-to-end flow, including applications and manual work that never appear on a Salesforce screen. The usual result is a shared picture that is easier to communicate and that shows where the current process is flawed before anyone designs a new solution.

Core information
  • Process mapping creates visual representations of business processes. It includes any activity that defines what a business does, who is responsible for what, how standard processes are completed, and how success is measured.
More details and nuances
  • Agreement on input and outcome often takes time, especially for a top-level diagram. Once you have those bounds, they define the scope of every lower level of detail you drill into from an activity box.
