User acceptance testing (UAT) is the last testing stage before go-live, when end users exercise a project or enhancement in a sandbox or test environment to confirm it works as intended and that what the business originally requested is actually being delivered. It exists so the business can approve the delivery, certify that the system is sufficient for real use, and catch gaps before production. The result is a pass or fail, which is a go or no-go decision.
