Aligning requirements to business needs means turning stakeholder asks into a shared, detailed picture of the outcome the sponsor and key stakeholders actually expect, then keeping the work inside that picture. Needs are the essential functions that define initial scope and take top priority; wants and visions of value are sorted, deferred, or dropped so the project still produces business improvements. Without that alignment, unauthorized changes expand the work until time, cost, and customer requirements can no longer be met together.
