Visualforce pages still run in Lightning Experience by being hosted inside Lightning surfaces instead of replacing the whole Salesforce window. You expose a page from a tab, record layout, Lightning App Builder page, quick action, standard-button override, or custom button or link. Lightning keeps its own navigation around the page, so Classic chrome settings and some Classic entry points no longer apply.

  • Lightning Experience is a redesigned Salesforce user interface, but Visualforce pages still run there, many without any revisions, because the platform hosts the page inside Lightning rather than letting Visualforce own the entire window.

  • In Lightning Experience a Visualforce page always shows the Lightning header and navigation: the apex:page showHeader and sidebar attributes have no effect, the Classic header and sidebar are treated as suppressed, and a fully custom shell still has to run in Salesforce Classic.
