A Flow Builder test is a saved check you run in the flow designer to prove the automation still follows the paths and field values you planned before you turn that version on for users. Debug is the one-off companion: it walks a single run with sample records so you can see the path and changing values without changing live data or emailing a real customer. Both exist to catch wrong outcomes and run-time failures while you can still edit the flow.

  • Test a flow in Flow Builder before you activate it so you verify expected results and find run-time failures before users hit the live version.

  • A flow test runs for the active flow version; if no version is active, it runs for the latest version. When you run from Flow Builder, the test executes the version currently open, and you can also make the test available on other selected versions.
