Apex unit tests are class methods that verify whether a particular piece of code is working properly. You annotate both the class and each test method with @IsTest so the testing framework can find them and treat that class as test-only code. Salesforce recommends @IsTest instead of the equivalent testMethod keyword, which may be versioned out in a future release.

  • A test class is a top-level class annotated with @IsTest; it cannot be an interface or an enum. Each unit test lives in that class as an @IsTest static void method that takes no arguments.

  • Classes defined with @IsTest do not count against the organization limit of 6 MB of Apex code.
