A custom retriever is a Data Library data source that points at a retriever you already built and activated in Data 360, instead of indexing knowledge, files, or the web through the library’s usual automated pipeline. You use it to ground agents on more kinds of Data 360 data, including ensemble retrievers, and to connect a companion org to libraries and search indexes that live in the home org. Agentforce Data Library does not support companion orgs directly through Data Cloud One, so a custom retriever is the supported link.
