Agentforce actions execute as a Salesforce user, so that user's profile, permissions, field-level security, and sharing rules decide what the action can read or change. Which user is the running user depends on the agent type and, for Service agents, whether credential-based user verification is enabled. Employee agents inherit the logged-in employee's access; Lead Nurturing agents and most Service-agent sessions run as a dedicated agent user whose access you must grant and limit on purpose.

  • Every agent action runs in an execution context: Salesforce applies the running user's profile, permissions, field-level security, and sharing rules to the data the action tries to read or change.
More details and nuances
  • Knowing who the customer is does not shrink what the agent can query. Unidentified customers and identified customers who have a contact record (including OTP-verified customers who are not logged in) still run as EinsteinServiceAgent User, org-wide sharing defaults for internal users apply, and context variables such as MessagingSession.ContactId do not control data access. Without extra configuration, the customer can reach every record that agent user can see, so you must proactively limit access.
