Agent API is a REST interface for talking to an Agentforce agent from any system that can call an API: your own website, other platforms and workflows, or even other agents, including headless automation that has no Salesforce channel UI. Standard channels are the Salesforce-provided surfaces you deploy an agent to, such as the Agentforce panel in Lightning Experience, the Salesforce mobile app, Slack, messaging platforms, and email, so people meet the agent in those apps. Use Agent API when the interaction is programmatic; use a standard channel when people should converse on those built-in surfaces with channel-specific responses and routing.
