An Agentforce Service agent can autonomously reply to customer emails after Email-to-Case turns those messages into cases. You connect the agent to email by pairing a Lightning email template with an email configuration, linking that configuration to Email-to-Case routing addresses, and routing inbound cases so the agent owns the case when the message is processed. Replies are grounded in Agentforce Data Libraries, follow the template you define, and include a custom legal disclosure that the email was written using AI.

Core information
  • Email-to-Case is the channel plumbing: when customers write to a support address, Salesforce creates a case if that routing address is in To, CC, or BCC and auto-populates case fields. Agentforce Service Agent on Email sits on that path so a Service agent can reply on its own, for example with a delivery date and tracking number when a customer asks where a package is.
More details and nuances
  • Agentforce Service Agent on Email does not support end-user verification, so remove any user verification subagent from the agent before you use this channel.
