An action input is filled either by the agent at run time or from a variable you already stored. By default, inputs are agent populated, so the agent chooses the value from the conversation or from amounts and IDs you wrote into the instructions. Assigning a variable to an input forces the action to use only that stored value, which keeps the same session data in later actions, filters, and turns instead of hoping the model picks the same value again.
