Agent actions are the tools an agent uses to complete a request, such as drafting an email grounded in Salesforce data. Salesforce provides standard actions so you can cover common jobs quickly; you create custom actions when your process needs different Salesforce functionality or a different set of inputs and outputs. The practical distinction is reuse across agents, how far you can edit a standard action before you must replace it, and that each agent works from its own copy rather than a live shared template.
