A pipeline forecast type is a saved view of projected sales: which records to add up, which number to measure, which date to bucket by, and which hierarchy to roll through. Administrators create more than one type so the same pipeline can be read from different angles, such as opportunity revenue by close date versus product quantity by family, or role hierarchy versus territory. Users switch among active types on the forecasts page.
