A permission set group bundles permission sets into one assignment that matches a job persona or role, so assigned users receive the combined permissions of every set in the group. Admins build reusable permission sets around the tasks people do, then group those building blocks by persona instead of cloning a profile for each overlapping job. Muting can turn off selected permissions inside one persona group without changing the underlying permission sets or other groups that reuse them.
