A junction object is a custom object with two master-detail relationships that connects two other objects so each record on either side can link to many records on the other. The first master-detail field you create is the primary relationship, and that choice sets how junction records look, which owner they inherit, and which division they inherit. Junction records do not share on their own: each master-detail field has a Sharing Setting that controls the master access needed to create, edit, or delete them, and viewing a junction record requires read access to both masters.
