Implicit sharing is Salesforce's built-in parent-child access: users who can reach certain related records often get limited access to the parent account, and account access can open those children, without extra sharing rules. It exists so typical account-related work stays possible when organization-wide defaults are private. The two directions are not equal, it applies only to standard relationships, and some child objects do not follow the case, contact, and opportunity pattern.
