The forecasts hierarchy is the nested tree of forecast managers and subordinates that Salesforce uses to roll forecast numbers up the sales organization and to decide who can view or adjust them. For role-based forecasts, that tree follows the user role hierarchy, so each manager role that should contribute to rollups needs a designated forecast manager. If a role has no manager, or the assigned manager has left the role, numbers stop rolling up correctly.
