Single sign-on (SSO) and social sign-on both cut down on extra passwords, but they solve different login problems. SSO lets a person authenticate once and then reach several applications without logging in again. Social sign-on lets people, especially Experience Cloud customers, enter Salesforce using an existing social account such as Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, or X instead of creating a new Salesforce username and password.
