Schema Builder is a visual canvas in Setup for viewing and changing your app's data model, the objects, fields, and relationships that store your data, without clicking from page to page. You drag custom objects, custom fields, and relationships onto the canvas, and Schema Builder applies those changes and remembers how you arranged the objects. It is enabled by default in every edition, in both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic, and is especially useful when the model is getting complicated and you need to see how everything connects.

  • Think of Schema Builder as a map of your schema: it shows standard and custom objects together with their fields, required fields, and the lookup and master-detail lines that connect them.
