Agentforce agents automate Salesforce work by pairing jobs, tools, and a reasoning engine that decides what to do next. A job used to be called a topic; beginning in April 2026 it is called a subagent, with no change in behavior. Each subagent holds the instructions for that job and the actions the agent may run, while the Atlas reasoning engine first follows written logic and then uses a large language model to choose among remaining allowed actions or reply to the user.
