An application lifecycle environment path is the sequence of isolated Salesforce copies, called sandboxes, that a change travels through before it reaches live users. Each sandbox type copies a different amount of production configuration and data, so a team can develop, integrate, accept, and stage work without touching the live org. In the org development model, source control holds the release, and the same deployment artifact is pushed along that path until production.
