A sandbox is an isolated copy of a Salesforce production org used for development, testing, or training so that work never changes live data or applications. Salesforce offers four types, Developer, Developer Pro, Partial Copy, and Full, that differ in what they copy, how much they store, and how often you can refresh them. You pick a type by matching those limits to the job: metadata-only development, testing or training with a sample of production data, or a full replica for performance work and staging.
