Profile login IP ranges are allowed address lists you attach to a Salesforce profile so those users can sign in only from specified networks. They exist to refuse logins from everywhere else, which is a harder control than org-wide trusted IP ranges. Trusted ranges only skip an identity-verification challenge; they do not block the login.
