Entry criteria decide which records of an object are allowed into a classic approval process, so you can run approvals on only a subset of records instead of every record someone submits. You configure them when you create the process by leaving every record eligible, by setting filter criteria, or by writing a formula that must return true. A record that fails those process-level rules cannot enter that approval process.
