Identity verification is Salesforce asking a user for extra evidence, called a verification method, to prove they own the account before they log in, activate an unfamiliar device, or open a sensitive resource. That challenge is labeled multi-factor authentication (MFA), device activation, or step-up authentication depending on why it fires. Admins choose which methods are allowed, and users with privileged access must use stronger, phishing-resistant methods.
