Visibility rules let an administrator control when a Lightning page component, tab, or Dynamic Forms field appears by adding filter conditions and filter logic in Lightning App Builder. With no filter, the item displays as usual; once filters and logic are set, it stays hidden until those criteria are met. The same page can then change with record values, who is viewing, or which device they use, instead of a separate page for every audience.

Core information
  • In Lightning App Builder, select a component on a record, app, or Home page, or a field on a Dynamic Forms-enabled record page, and add filter conditions plus filter logic in its properties. You can also set visibility conditions on an individual tab in the Tabs component. Standard and custom components both get this treatment; Lightning App Builder applies the rules, so custom components do not need special handling.
More details and nuances
  • Visibility rules on fields are assessed while a user edits, so fields can appear and disappear during edit, clone, inline edit, and new-record screens. Visibility rules on field sections are not dynamic: they do not react during editing and are evaluated only after the record is saved.
