A sales path is a guided strip of stages on a Lightning record page that keeps reps on the company's defined sales process instead of hunting for the next task. Those stages come from a sales process, and for opportunities they are further scoped by the record type that uses that process. Kanban is a column board built from a list view so the same pipeline can be scanned and updated by dragging cards; when Path and Kanban share the same object, record type, and picklist, Path's key fields, guidance, and celebrations appear on the board as well.
