After a record is submitted for approval, it moves through an ordered chain of steps. At each step an assigned person can approve the request, reject it, or reassign it, and the person who submitted it may recall the request if the administrator allowed recall so they can update the record. Rejection is not one-size-fits-all: the first step follows the process's final rejection actions, while later steps let you either fully reject the request or send it back to the previous approver.
